The baby was supposed to spend the day at daycare, but she never made it there. Little Scottie, just 10 months old, was in the care of her grandmother, a Kentucky doctor who was supposed to drop her off before starting her workday at a clinic, but reportedly forgot that she was still inside the vehicle.
The woman parked and went inside to work at around 8:30 in the morning. Over the following hours, the baby remained in the car while outdoor temperatures exceeded 30 °C, which can cause the inside of a vehicle to reach dangerous levels in a very short time.
The tragedy was only discovered around 5 in the afternoon. Scottie’s father went to the daycare to pick her up and received news there that raised all the alarms: his daughter had never arrived that day. They then contacted the grandmother and found the little girl still inside the car. Emergency services arrived at the scene, but they could no longer save her.
The police opened an investigation to determine exactly what happened and, according to the information initially available, no charges had been filed.
Scottie was just 10 months old. What was supposed to be an ordinary trip to daycare ended up becoming eight hours inside a hot vehicle and an irreversible tragedy.
