Amber Uhler weighed nearly 136 kilos when a doctor told her bluntly: she was headed for an early grave.
She was morbidly obese, prediabetic, and probably would not live to see her three children graduate from high school. The diagnosis came the very same weekend she became trapped in a foam pit at a trampoline park while playing with her children.
Not even a group of men could get her out. It was at that moment, stuck between the foam and the shame, that something inside her broke.
On January 1, 2021, she wrote down a goal that even she considered impossible: to compete in a beauty pageant. She lost 77 kilos through diet and exercise, without medications such as Ozempic.
She was crowned Mrs. Florida Universe in 2024, Mrs. Universe USA in 2025, and in July 2026 she was named Miss Michigan USA.
At 41, she is the oldest contestant in the 75th edition of Miss USA, which will be held on August 27 in Miami. The body a doctor had written off is now taking the national stage.
