Two days. That was how long a kitten spent trapped on a floating branch in the middle of the Songhua River, in China’s Jilin province, while the rains continued to raise the water around it.
No one could get close. The current was too strong and the branch too unstable. That was when a pilot experienced with drones decided to try something unconventional: use his equipment to reach where no human could. The first attempt failed. The second did too. But he did not give up, and on the third, with the unexpected help of a stranger who joined the maneuver, he achieved what seemed impossible.
More than an hour of tension, three attempts, and the determination of two people who did not know each other were enough to save an animal that had almost no strength left. Sometimes technology does not replace solidarity; it simply gives it a new way to arrive in time.
