An Avianca flight covering the route between Bogotá and Madrid had to return to El Dorado International Airport due to a serious onboard disturbance on May 12.
The video of this incident shows a man in an apparent state of intoxication, who was caught masturbating in his seat and harassing a woman in the cabin. Faced with the subject’s hostility toward the crew, the captain decided to make a 180-degree turn for safety reasons.
Police boarded the aircraft to remove the individual while witnesses recorded the scene. Lawyer Juan Camilo Sanclemente said that the culprit could face up to 3 years in prison for harassment and abuse aboard a commercial flight.
