Normally, the eleven players walk onto the pitch hand in hand with children. That day in the Netherlands, the plan was different.

RKC Waalwijk, who were bottom of the second division, left the children in the stands and came out with lingerie models from the After Eden brand. It happened on February 13, 2016, the eve of Valentine’s Day, in a match against FC Emmen and as part of an advertising campaign designed to get people talking. And talk they did, of course. The players smiled, posed for the team photo, and one even seemed unsure where to look. The models, wearing blouses, long socks and underwear despite the February cold in the Netherlands, played their part with a smile.

The club saw it as a success: according to the press, there were many positive responses from sponsors and supporters. The only thing that didn’t go well was the match. RKC lost 1-0 and no one missed the irony: the team that looked best in the tunnel was the one that shone least on the pitch. 😂
