A family left their pets with a sitter they had trusted for months. When they returned from vacation, they checked the cameras and discovered that she and her partner were kicking, dragging, and whipping two of their dogs with a leash; one was just 13 months old

Paige Williams was paid about 1.800 dollars to care for three dogs, two cats, and two birds of prey while a family from Balsall Common, in the United Kingdom, was on vacation in 2024.

What she didn’t know was that there were cameras in the kitchen and garden. The footage showed Williams, 26, and her partner, Bradley Archer, shouting and swearing at two German Shorthaired Pointers: Ayrton, 13 months old, and Frieda, three years old. They dragged them by their collars, lifted them off the ground, shoved them through doors, and threw them down.

According to the RSPCA, Ayrton was the one who suffered the most abuse. They locked him in a cage where he cried and whimpered, tied him to a tree with the water just out of his reach, chased him around the garden while threatening him with a stick, and shook him with a choke leash until he was flung into the air. When he jumped on Archer, they whipped him with that same leash.

In one of the videos, Williams looks at the camera and speaks to the owners: “I will never look after your dogs again. My animals have suffered this month. My animals. I’ve had enough”.

The family refused to pay the bill. Williams admitted to an offense under the Animal Welfare Act, and Archer changed his plea to guilty at the start of the trial. Both received 12 months of community service and a ban on owning animals for 7 years, effectively ending Williams’s business, Fur & Filly Pet Care Services. The dogs are doing well now, but the family says the experience left its mark on them.
