Mexican influencer Karely Ruiz decided to respond publicly after several people claimed on social media that the violent robbery she suffered at her home had been made up to attract attention.

In a statement, the content creator described those comments as “sick” and assured that she would never play with her family’s safety to gain more fame or followers. “I would never make something like that up”, she stated.

The robbery occurred during the early hours of the morning at her home in San Nicolás de los Garza, Mexico. According to the official investigation, a group of at least seven armed men entered the house, beat her husband, Jhon Echeverry, and fled with cash, jewelry, and various electronic devices. Authorities are investigating the case as a violent robbery, ruling out the initial version of an attempted kidnapping.

After the news became public, numerous users began to speculate that it was all a strategy to remain relevant on social media. The influencer responded by assuring that those who think that way do not understand what it means to experience such a traumatic situation inside one’s own home.

Karely also confirmed that both she and her daughter are physically well, although she acknowledged that the emotional impact has been enormous. She also reported that she has already filed the corresponding complaint and that she will go “all the way” so that those responsible are identified.

As the investigation continues, the case sparked a debate on social media about the risks content creators face when exposing part of their private lives online and about how easily many people discredit victims even before knowing the facts.
