Randy Fyllesvold was 43 years old when he died in a crash near Maxbass, North Dakota, in September 2025.
He left behind his wife Kharra, his two young children, and 1,400 acres of corn, soybeans, and canola unharvested, just as winter was beginning to tighten its grip. Two of his friends, Wyatt Thompson and Andy Gates, did not hesitate; they quietly assembled a network of volunteers that ultimately brought together about 75 farmers from more than 10 neighboring communities.
They arrived with 12 combines, 7 grain carts, and more than 40 semi-trucks, and in just a few days they finished all the work without charging a single dollar. Kharra described the arrival of that fleet as “simply spectacular”. Proof that in the countryside, family is also made of neighbors.
