The calf could barely stand on its own legs.
It had been born that very night, on a farm in India, when the rainy season brings with it the invisible enemy of every newborn: mosquitoes. Its owner had neither an air-conditioned barn nor a veterinary clinic nearby. He had something simpler and perhaps more valuable: an old mosquito net and the decision to use it to protect the smallest and most fragile animal in his pen.
So he stretched it over four stakes, forming a makeshift tent right where the calf rested beside its mother. No words, no grand gesture. Just a man who decided that this newly arrived life deserved to sleep peacefully, without the threat of a disease that could have been prevented. In some corner of India, someone reminds you that care does not need luxuries, only the willingness to give a little of what you have.
