Jake Barron had a mission, and it wasn’t to cry tears of joy.

Levi Bliss, 23, had been dating Allison Barron, 22, for two years, and had planned it all with the help of her family. On the side of a hill near Winnemucca, Nevada, they put up giant letters that said “Will you marry me?”. Then Levi drove Allison to the spot, stopped, and got down on one knee to propose.

She was already crying tears of joy when something caught her eye in the distance: her father, Jake, was holding a homemade sign that read “Say no”. Allison burst out laughing, said yes, and completely ignored her father’s advice. According to her, Jake and Levi get along great: they even play tennis and ride dirt bikes together. So it was just another one of her dad’s classic jokes. “This is so my dad’s personality”, Allison said.

The photos she posted on Twitter got more than 200.000 likes and Jake ended up becoming a meme.
