David Charette Jr., 48, allegedly found an extreme way to punish his 14-year-old daughter: using her pets to make her suffer whenever, according to relatives, the teenager ‘misbehaved’.
Everything came to light on August 5, 2026, in Pine Manor, Florida, when the girl herself called emergency services after seeing her father mistreat Luna, her two-month-old kitten. The investigation revealed that it was not the first time Charette had used animals as a form of punishment and that two other family kittens had died over the past year.
Relatives admitted they remained silent for fear of retaliation. Sheriff Carmine Marceno called the case disgusting. Charette was held on $100,000 bail, charged with aggravated animal cruelty, while the cats that were still alive were removed from the home to protect them from him.
