An American passenger weighing nearly 200 kilos, who was traveling in a wheelchair, demanded that three crew members take him to the bathroom and strip him from the waist down. They initially refused. But when other passengers needed to use the bathroom and he refused to come out, the purser gave in and ended up cleaning him while the man made moaning sounds and suggestive remarks. When she finished, he accused her of not doing it properly and asked her to repeat the entire process.
On January 19, 2019, the story came to light when the flight attendant herself, without revealing her full identity, recounted it at a press conference alongside the Taoyuan Flight Attendants Union. The organization described the incident as sexual harassment and asked EVA Air to sue the passenger, who, they reported, had already caused problems on previous flights.
