Four days without washing her hair were enough.

Vivi Voyage, a French content creator who now lives in Mexico, traveled to visit her family in France and discovered that her habits were no longer the same. With the Mexican routine ingrained in her, she wanted to shower every day. At her parents’ house, she held back. At her aunt’s, with her hair crying for help, she had to ask if she could take a shower.

The answer was that she didn’t need to: according to Vivi’s account, her aunt told her that showering often is bad and that water and electricity are extremely expensive. She summed it up on TikTok with a phrase that spread across social media: “In France, showering every day is a privilege. So I left the fourth world for the third world”.

The irony did not go unnoticed. In December 2024, Vivi had sparked controversy by saying that Mexicans shower too much and that once a week was enough. Today, the tables have completely turned, and hundreds of Mexican users have already reacted in the comments.
