A Galician company invented reflective vests for chickens — and a neighbor called the police thinking they were glowing gnomes 🐔

In Galicia, when the sun sets at 18:30 in winter, free-range chickens become invisible — and that gets expensive. A company from Pontevedra found the most unexpected solution of the year: high-visibility vests designed specifically for farm birds. Shopkeeper Esteban Couso was one of the first to sell them, with an argument that was hard to refute: “If dogs and cats can wear them, why not chickens?”

The product was already eye-catching on its own, but what really made it take off was an episode no one expected: a neighbor called the police in terror because she believed some “glowing gnomes” were surrounding her house. The officers arrived at the scene and found exactly what was there: chickens in reflective vests moving around in the dark. That same neighbor had run over two of those birds weeks earlier, claiming that “she hadn’t seen them” at night. 🐔

The owner didn’t need to say anything else. The vests stayed on.
