Heidi appeared alone in the middle of the sea after spending about 11 hours swimming, but finding her was also the first clue that someone else might be in danger. The German shepherd had gone boating with her owner off the coast of Queensland, Australia, when the vessel capsized and they both ended up separated in the water.
The next morning, a fisherman found Heidi swimming alongside some objects that belonged to the boat and alerted the authorities. Realizing that someone could be missing, a search operation by sea and air was launched.

While Heidi had endured hours of swimming, her owner was still alive, clinging to the overturned boat. He was eventually located and rescued after spending nearly 15 hours in the water.
The police highlighted Heidi’s endurance and used the case to remind people of the importance of using safety equipment when boating. After such a night, the dog and her owner were able to reunite safe and sound.
Heidi couldn’t ask for help or explain where her human was, but she endured for 11 hours until someone found her. And her appearance ended up being the signal they needed to start looking for him ❤️.
