In Kumamoto, Japan, a photographer went out to do what he always does: walk the streets with the Google Maps camera on his shoulder, capturing block by block for Street View. What he didn’t expect was company.
A Golden Retriever tagged along on the route and wouldn’t leave his side. He trotted alongside him for entire stretches, and every time the camera snapped, there he was, in the frame, as if he also had a shift to work. The result: more than a thousand photographs in which the dog appears again and again, street after street.
Nobody planned it that way. But today, anyone who explores those blocks virtually might come across him, always present, always faithful, unknowingly turned into the most beloved face of that corner of Street View.
