The grandfather didn’t know he was being filmed.
A song comes on in the living room, and he starts to dance. He does it in front of the armchair where his wife, who has Alzheimer’s, watches him attentively. There’s no audience or special occasion: just a man who has decided that this moment is worth turning into a celebration. His granddaughter, TikTok user @criscarivas, captured the scene without them noticing she was there.

Alzheimer’s is gradually taking the grandmother’s memories away, but he doesn’t give up: every gesture is meant to make her life easier and happier. In another clip on the account, he puts on Doraemon, one of her favorite shows, so they can share the moment together.

The video surpassed 8,3 million views, 1,2 million likes and nearly 13.000 comments. One of them sums up what many people felt: “They must have had a thousand problems as a couple, and yet, even in their later years, they still choose each other”. Because sometimes love isn’t seen in grand promises, but in an impromptu dance on just any Tuesday.
