Rehan was 17 years old and sold pens and keychains on the streets of Bhopal, India, to make a living day to day.

Two minors sought him out with a simple excuse: they offered him the equivalent of one dollar to help with a fight. But there was no fight. Behind it was Zoheb Khan, 20, a business administration student who had convinced himself — according to police, after watching an Instagram reel — that a teenager’s testicles could be sold for 125.000 dollars on the black market. To gain the rest of the group’s trust, Khan disguised himself as a doctor: he bought a white coat, a stethoscope, and a thermometer.

Rehan’s body was found days later in a city lake, without his testicles. Police arrested Khan and 18-year-old Aamir Qureshi and detained three other minors. They consulted a real doctor: there is no market, no buyer, and no basis for the myth that cost a life.
