On a noisy avenue in London, a homeless man holds every night the only thing he has left: his dog. He wraps it in a blanket, rocks it like a newborn, and waits for it to fall asleep before allowing himself to close his eyes. An anonymous witness recorded the scene, and the video spread across TikTok and Instagram until it reached thousands of screens.
“When I first got him, we had an apartment”, he said himself. The horns, sirens, and comings and goings of people keep his dog awake and frightened, so every night he repeats the same ritual to give it back some of the peace they lost together.
The British account The Archbishop of Banterbury shared the images and sparked a movement of users calling for a fundraiser to get them a roof over their heads. The problem is that no one knows where to find him: he moves constantly, like so many homeless people. Meanwhile, every night he continues holding the proof that home does not depend on walls, but on whom you choose to care for first.
