When the fire consumed the upper level of their duplex on Detroit, Michigan’s East Side, everyone managed to get out. Everyone except one-year-old baby Shantel, who was still in her crib inside the burning house. Blue did not think twice: he ran back toward the danger. When firefighters saw him, they decided to follow him upstairs, where they found the girl, unharmed thanks to him.
Although the family initially lost everything and faced a crisis that forced them to sleep in their van for six nights, the situation took a decisive turn thanks to public solidarity, as they received more than 96 thousand dollars in donations from people around the world.
Thanks to this massive financial support, the family was able to fully recover, immediately relocate to a safe home, and resume the landscaping business they had lost in the fire. 🥹
