A Japanese photographer spent years chasing cats in mid-jump, and his photos look like scenes from a martial arts movie

He wasn’t looking for the perfect photo. He was looking for the exact moment when a cat loses all composure.

Hisakata Hiroyuki, a Japanese photographer, pointed his camera where no one else was looking: the precise instant when cats jump, attack, skid through the air, and reveal that beneath that pose of masters of the universe lies pure furry chaos. His images freeze them in mid-jump, with their paws outstretched and the face of someone who clearly didn’t have a plan B.

There are no carefully arranged poses or brightly lit studio. Just Hiroyuki, his patience, and the moment when the cat forgot that someone was watching. 🐾
