Carlos Baldassari arrived to cover a traffic accident in Córdoba, Argentina, as he had so many other times during his work as a journalist. At first, he did not know who the only fatality was, until he gradually began receiving information and ended up confirming the unthinkable: it was his 32-year-old son, Tiago.
Despite the shock, Carlos decided to stand in front of the camera and continue the coverage. That was when he had to say words no parent would ever want to say: “Unfortunately, today it is my son”.
Within minutes, he went from reporting on someone else’s tragedy to discovering that he had just lost his own son. A news story he had gone out to cover that morning as a journalist and ended up facing as a father 💔.
