“The best thing he did in his career was get a taste of Morena Beltrán”. That is how journalist Lucas Schmidt referred to Huracán fullback Lucas Blondel after the victory over River.
The journalist accompanied the message with a photo of her in a swimsuit, as if having her were the real achievement. Blondel did not remain silent and replied to him on social media.
He wrote that he accepts any football criticism, but not people talking that way about the woman who will soon be his wife: “I don’t think it’s fair that I have to put up with someone who calls himself a sports journalist speaking about my future wife this way”.
The couple have been together for two and a half years, and he proposed to her at the beginning of 2026. Hours later, Morena Beltrán responded to him live on F90, the ESPN program where she works.
She said that she didn’t even know Blondel was going to publish his response, and took the opportunity to point out something bigger: that the sports journalism world remains, in her words, very sexist.
