María Ávila worked cleaning Chris Brown’s house in Tarzana, California, when in December 2020 a 90-kilogram Caucasian Shepherd named Hades attacked her for no apparent reason.
The trial took almost five years to reach a verdict. In June 2026, a jury determined that Brown was negligent and ordered him to pay 12,9 million dollars to María, in addition to 885,000 dollars to her sister Patricia for the emotional trauma of witnessing the attack, and 50,000 dollars to Oscar Olivo, María’s husband. In total, nearly 13 million dollars that the singer refused to pay.
Now, as Brown travels across the country alongside Usher on The R&B Tour, a Los Angeles judge ruled that María is entitled to collect directly from those earnings. The singer filed documents opposing the measure, but failed to convince the court. It is not yet known whether he will try to appeal, but for now, every ticket sold for that tour also belongs to her in part.
