In front of a green tide in Guadalajara, a Korean fan lifted his South Korea shirt… and underneath he was wearing El Tri’s. 🇲🇽❤️
The Mexicans around him erupted in cheers, hugged him, and chanted for him as if he were one of their own. The video went viral within hours because it sums up something that began in Russia 2018: when Korea eliminated Germany 2-0 and handed Mexico a place in the next round, a friendship was born that today is celebrated with the chant “Korean brother, now you are Mexican”.
And as if the script had called for it, Mexico beat South Korea 1-0 that same day with a goal by Luis Romo in the 50th minute. Football, sometimes, knows how to rise to the occasion. 🙌⚽
