Tokyo, a 5-year-old black Labrador, was climbing Ben Nevis as part of a hike she often took with her owner. 🐕 Halfway through, everything changed: she lost control of her hind legs and began to stagger, as if someone had switched her off.

Her owner, Christina Bluhme, from Surrey, England, had no way of carrying a 25-kilo Labrador down the mountain by herself. Fortunately, the Lochaber Mountain Rescue team was already nearby—they had just dealt with another emergency at the summit—and arrived just in time to carry her down on a stretcher to a vet in Fort William.

The diagnosis was as unusual as it was worrying: vets suspect Tokyo ate cannabis discarded on the trail. “I genuinely thought I was going to lose her”, Bluhme said, still amazed that her dog woke up the next day fully recovered and ready to run again. 🐾
