Andros Townsend was calmly warming up before the match when a grass roller came toward him.
The former Tottenham, Everton and Crystal Palace player, now at Thailand’s PT Prachuap, was trapped under the machine, which rolled over his legs up to near his waist. His teammates reacted in horror as the operator stopped the vehicle to free him.
The unbelievable part came afterward: Townsend, 35, got up without serious injuries, continued warming up and even came on in the final minutes of his team’s 3-0 win over Pattani FC at Tinsulanon Stadium. The club publicly apologized and promised to step up security so this would not happen again.
