Red was hunting, but a lapse in attention led him into an area that was not his.
He was completely alone, and there they were: more than twenty hyenas, slowly closing in.

An adult lion can take on one, two, and even as many as three. But twenty change the math entirely. BBC Earth’s cameras, for the Dynasties series, recorded how the clan cornered him, growling and biting as Red spun around, trying to cover every angle at once, but there was no way he would get out alive.
The lion began to tire quickly, but suddenly something changed the course of the fight: Tatu, his ally, heard the conflict and decided to come closer.
However, joining the fight meant exposing himself to the same danger. He had to decide whether his friendship with Red was worth risking his life.
Tatu eventually helped his friend, and together they managed to drive the entire clan back. Demonstrating why they are considered the kings of the jungle.
