Working in a workshop can be risky, but none as extreme as what Dante Autullo experienced, a 34-year-old man from the suburbs of Chicago who received a projectile in his brain after a nail gun went off near his head, and the most surprising thing is that he didn’t realize it until a day later, when he started feeling nauseous, because at the time he only felt a blow and a small wound on his forehead that he cleaned without giving it importance.

His fiancée, Gail Glaenzer, cleaned the wound without knowing that the nail was already inside his skull, and it wasn’t until the next day, when the discomfort wouldn’t stop, that she convinced him to go to the hospital.

Doctors discovered that the nail was embedded in the center of his brain, just millimeters from the area that controls motor functions, a zone that, if it had been damaged, could have left him paralyzed or even cost him his life.

The surgeons managed to remove the nail in a two-hour operation, and now Dante is recovering, moving his limbs normally, speaking clearly, and remembering everything, an outcome that his fiancée describes as “a miracle”.
