Three liters of Coca-Cola a day, for years. That was the only unusual habit this Brazilian man had when he arrived at urologist Thales Andrade’s office. No genetic history, no previous illnesses, no known risk factors. Just that.

What the surgeon found inside his bladder was hard to ignore: 35 large, yellowish stones, accumulated over years without the patient knowing it. Andrade documented the procedure on video and explained the mechanism precisely: phosphoric acid and the excess sugar in soft drinks alter the chemical environment of the kidneys, raise the concentration of calcium, and create the exact conditions for stones to form that, if not detected in time, migrate to the bladder.

The video surpassed 8.5 million views on social media. Not because of morbid curiosity, but because the case puts into concrete numbers something many assume is an exaggeration: what you drink every day literally builds what your body accumulates inside.
