Spanish defender Marc Cucurella made a promise in June 2026 that sounded like a locker-room joke: if Spain were crowned World Cup champions, he would tattoo Luis de la Fuente’s face on himself.
Spain became champions, and the full-back newly signed by Real Madrid proved he was not joking. Tattoo artist Ganga was tasked with immortalizing the national team coach on Cucurella’s body.
De la Fuente himself had already warned on TVE: “He’s crazy, but promises have to be kept”. And he certainly kept it. Others, such as Borja Iglesias, also promised the same thing, but so far Cucurella is the only one who dared to wear it on his skin forever.
