It was Sunday noon in La Pintana when something seemed out of place at the corner of Lo Martínez and Pedro Prado.
A homeless man who lives in the area had set up a grill in front of a vacant lot. There was no market meat on it: it was a puppy between three and five months old, butchered just minutes earlier. The neighbors who saw it did not hesitate and immediately called Carabineros.
The 41st Police Station of La Pintana arrived at the scene at around 13:27 and confirmed everything: the animal’s remains, the lit grill, the evidence intact. The man was arrested for animal abuse and referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, while the PDI’s Bridesma, along with veterinarians, joined the effort to gather information. Commissioner Javier Zamorano confirmed the puppy’s age; Major Miguel Olivares, in charge of the operation, explained how the report was made that ended up stopping the scene in time so the act would not go unpunished.
