Keith Foster, 66, owner of a sunbed business in Croxteth, Merseyside, was caught on hidden cameras urinating in cups and bottles that his wife later drank from. She had stage four breast cancer and had been undergoing chemotherapy since November 2023.

It all began when the woman found a water bottle containing something strange that made her feel nauseous. Her daughter installed a camera in her room, and the mother put others in her own bedroom, the living room, and the kitchen. The footage showed him urinating in the kitchen crockery and filling bottles with a yellow liquid. Prosecutor David Polglase was clear: ‘It is obvious that he doesn’t know, or doesn’t care, that he is being recorded’.

Between January 2024 and January 2025, he also subjected her to degrading comments, left her locked out of the house, physically intimidated her, and threatened to harm her elderly parents. The court was told that he ‘lost his way’ after turning to alcohol and drugs, and that he may have been furious because she included his children in her will. He admitted coercive control and two counts of administering a noxious substance with intent to cause harm. The judge told him he should be ‘deeply ashamed’. But he was sentenced to three years in prison, suspended for 18 months, probation, and a rehabilitation program. He must pay 1.500 pounds in costs, at a rate of 400 a month. Before leaving the courtroom, he replied: ‘Thank you, Your Honour’.

Is this justice for a woman who was drinking poison in her own home while battling cancer?
