Between June 2023 and April 2024, the woman used fundraising platforms to obtain more than $20,000, which she spent on personal expenses and bills. One of those affected was Suzanne Duroy, a breast cancer survivor who sent her nearly $1,000 in gifts, believing she was helping a terminally ill patient.

The scammer justified her actions by claiming she was seeking attention and affection from those around her. As part of her plea agreement, she must pay $19,787 in restitution to her victims.
