Mubarak Musa is 13 and stood head and shoulders above everyone on the court.
At 2,10 meters tall, the young player born in Luonyaker, South Sudan, and a Qatari citizen, was the top scorer in the match against South Korea at the 2026 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship: 17 points, 15 from attacks, one block, and one serve. He outscored players with ten more years of experience. Qatar lost 3-0, but the day’s news was not the score.

According to FIVB records, he was born on November 24, 2012. In May, he played beach volleyball with Musa Alkeer at the Asian U-18 Championship in Uzbekistan, where they won bronze and secured a spot at the category’s World Championship. A month later, he was already with the senior national team.
Specialist media call him “the new phenomenon”. Are we witnessing the birth of a star, or too much pressure for someone so young?
