Thomas Wedders was born around 1730 in Yorkshire, England, and during the 1770s is said to have traveled to fairs and traveling shows, exhibiting his unusual feature: a nose that, according to accounts from the time, measured about 19 centimeters. 👃

More than two centuries later, Guinness World Records recognizes him as the man credited with having the longest nose in history. However, the record has one detail that is impossible to verify: Wedders lived long before photography, and there was never a modern measurement to confirm those 19 centimeters.
His appearance survived only through illustrations and a wax reproduction preserved by Ripley’s. Guinness itself even warns that the measurement may have been exaggerated by promoters of shows at the time.

A historical record that still stands, although no one can know for certain how long that nose really was.
