The man was traveling in one of the train cars on Santiago Metro’s Line 5 when, without saying a word or making any attempt to hide it, he began urinating inside the moving train. Around him, other passengers remained standing, holding onto the bars and breathing the same stale air inside the car. Someone managed to record the scene with their phone before the man finished, and the video began circulating on social media within hours.
The recording offers no explanation whatsoever: there is no visible medical emergency, no apology, and no sign of shame. Only the act itself, continuing for several seconds while the train follows its normal route through Santiago’s tunnels.
The comments from those who saw the footage point in the same direction: a lack of respect for a space that thousands of people use every day to get to their jobs, schools, and homes. No one has identified any formal consequences for the man so far, and for many users, that lack of a sanction is the most outrageous part of the entire incident.
