Jordan Arkin thought it was just another afternoon in the residents’ room in the Pathology Department at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York.
She was in her third year of residency and was an assistant chief resident. Then Lauren Mecca, a junior resident, asked her to look at one of her slides. Jordan leaned over the microscope, suspecting nothing. And there, among the pink-stained cells, were two words: “Marry Me”.
Confused, she looked up and turned around. Her boyfriend of nine months, Ryan Baum, was on one knee, holding a ring. A proposal planned down to the last detail for someone who spends her days looking through a microscope.
