“Someone posts something, it goes viral, and in a second it’s everywhere”: Scaloni on the accusations of help for Argentina

Before Argentina faced Cape Verde in the round of 32, a journalist put the microphone in front of Lionel Scaloni and asked him the uncomfortable question: what does he think of the posts accusing his team of receiving refereeing favors at the World Cup?

The coach held nothing back. He said that neither he nor his coaching staff nor the players pay attention to those claims, because they simply do not use social media. “Today anyone posts whatever they want and maybe it’s not well-founded”, he said, making it clear that the noise does not reach the world champion locker room.

At another press conference, he was even more direct: “They end up making something small into something very big; social media is like that. It doesn’t resonate with us.” Meanwhile, the team is already thinking about the round-of-16 clash against Egypt. 🇦🇷⚽
