A photograph of Ariana Grande began circulating on social media for a reason virtually no one had noticed at first glance.
In the image, the singer is fully glammed up, with makeup, perfectly styled hair, and large green earrings. However, someone decided to zoom in on her right ear and found an unexpected detail.

Around the three piercings in the cartilage, you can see reddened areas, scabs, and what appears to be dried discharge. The image immediately sparked speculation about a possible infection, although a photograph alone cannot confirm what was going on.
The tweet that resurfaced the image racked up more than 11 million views in just a few hours and sparked all kinds of comments.
“They edit out her double chin but not that?”, one person asked. Others were much harsher and linked the appearance of the piercings to an alleged lack of hygiene.
However, that can’t be determined by looking at a photograph either. Cartilage piercings can show irritation, scabs, and discharge while healing, and those signs don’t automatically mean there’s an infection.

What’s curious is the contrast that made the image go viral: a carefully staged professional photograph concealed a small detail that only became visible when someone zoomed in.
Ariana had previously spoken about discomfort in her ears. After wearing enormous emerald and diamond earrings to the 2020 Grammys, she even joked that her earlobes were still “recovering” from the weight.
This time, however, Ariana hasn’t said publicly what was going on with those piercings.
And while the internet continues debating whether they were infected or simply irritated, one thing is clear: all it took was zooming in on just a few centimeters of a photo for the ear to end up stealing the entire spotlight.
