When Chimuela became pregnant, she began spending hours lying still, resting. The pigeon first approached out of curiosity, but ended up bringing her little pieces of straw and twigs one after another until it built a complete nest where the cat could give birth comfortably. What no one expected was what came next: Trucutrú kept showing up, kept bringing material to keep the nest in good condition, and even snuggled up next to Chimuela as if she were part of the litter. According to Rubén Grisales, who documents the lives of his animals on TikTok, the two have been friends since they were little. The video went viral on social media, and it is not hard to understand why: rarely is so much tenderness seen between two species that, in theory, should be enemies.
