Samyra has 2.3 million followers on TikTok and one mission: to expose what she calls fatphobic marketing.

We have got to stop perpetuating and profiting off of fatphobia.

On Wednesday, July 29, she uploaded a video about a Skinnygirl product that caught her attention at the supermarket. Then she went further: she took aim at Cheesecake Factory’s ‘Skinnylicious’ menu, showing screenshots from the chain’s account on X, including a 2012 post about New Year’s resolutions and another about a swimsuit winner ‘for when she’s ready for the beach’.

The response was not what she expected. Thousands of users defended the brands and accused her of misusing the term fatphobia. She did not back down: she compared this discrimination to what people experience because of their hair, linked to racism. It is not the first time Samyra has been at the center of a controversy like this — she had previously called out Target for the same thing and received more than 25,000 comments against her.
