In Amsterdam, a man who died in 1993 was taken from his grave to rest alongside his wife, who died recently. The two had owned a nightclub in Wallen, the city’s red-light district. To bid them farewell, someone had an idea no one expected at a crematorium.

A professional pole dancer appeared in front of the coffin. She danced to “The Show Must Go On” by Queen, in a performance that funeral director Iede Hoorn described as intimate and dignified. The family hesitated at first, but ultimately requested it as a tribute to the deceased couple’s profession.

Hoorn shared the video on his Instagram, where he has 89,000 followers, and made his stance clear: funerals do not have to be standard.
