Sara Geurts is 26 years old and has the skin of someone three times her age.

At 10, she was given a name for what was happening to her: Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, dermatosparaxis type, a genetic disorder that affects connective tissue and the production of collagen, the protein that keeps skin firm. In her case, her skin is extremely fragile, hangs in folds, especially around her neck, wrists, and ankles, and bruises easily. According to media reports covering her case, only between ten and fifteen patients are known worldwide.

For years, she covered her body with clothes so no one would see it. Until, at 22, she started seeing it differently: as something unique. Today, she is the face of Love Your Lines, a movement that celebrates imperfections, and wants to be the first model with this disease. Her goal isn’t to be looked at, but to help others stop hiding.
