In 2012, a crucifix near a Catholic church in Mumbai began dripping water from its feet. Numerous faithful people came to the site, collected the liquid, and some drank it convinced that it might have healing properties.

The rationalist Sanal Edamaruku investigated the phenomenon alongside an engineer and discovered a far less divine explanation: the water came from a clogged drain connected to a nearby bathroom and reached the figure through capillary action. The finding ended up sparking a major controversy over faith, science, and freedom of expression. 📸
