Gobi had no home, but it seems she decided for herself who she wanted her family to be. 🥹🐶 It all began in 2016, during a demanding multi-day race through the Gobi Desert in China. There, the little stray dog appeared out of nowhere and began running alongside Scottish athlete Dion Leonard.
The surprising thing is that she did not accompany him for just a few meters. Gobi followed Dion through several stages and covered nearly 124 kilometers with him, crossing difficult terrain and enduring the demands of an extreme race. Dion began sharing his food, water, and sleeping place with her, while the little dog simply refused to leave his side.
When it was time to say goodbye, Dion already knew he could not leave her behind. He decided to adopt her and bring her home, but doing so meant transporting her from China to the United Kingdom and completing a long process of paperwork and quarantine. Then something even worse happened: while she was waiting to be able to travel, Gobi disappeared.
Dion returned to China to look for her and, with the help of volunteers, searched the area until they finally managed to find her. Months later, the little dog who had run after a stranger for kilometers was able to travel to begin a new life with him.
First Gobi covered 124 kilometers so she would not be separated from Dion. Then Dion crossed the world so he would not be separated from her. ❤️ Sometimes family also appears along the way.
