It was 2022, and Bruno Henrique Cassimiro Ramos was begging beside a traffic light in São Paulo. That was until a stylist, Leandro Matias, came by and couldn’t just walk past.

He gave him his card and promised him a makeover. Bruno was suspicious and never showed up. So Leandro did something almost no one does: he went to the corner where Bruno lived and led him by the hand to his barbershop. “I gave him a towel and soap and told him: go over there and take the bath of your life”, the stylist recalled. Then came lunch, a haircut, hair dye, a shave, a facial treatment, and even eyebrow waxing.

When Bruno saw himself in the mirror, neither he nor Leandro could believe it: “From walking the streets to becoming a model”. The before-and-after photos went viral, and strangers from all over the world joined in to help him, including by paying for dental treatment. “People get tired of humiliation. That wasn’t the real me”, Bruno said.

Although no one knows what became of him afterward, Leandro continues to offer free makeovers to anyone who needs one. And sometimes a second chance starts with a pair of scissors.
