A tornado carried away a 4-month-old baby’s crib, and his mother was “pretty sure” he had died: they found him alive in a tree, about 7 meters from the house

Sydney Moore had just put her two children down for a nap when the tornado struck without warning.

It was December 9, 2023, in Clarksville, Tennessee. Lord, 4 months old, was sleeping in his crib near the front of the mobile home. Princeton, 1 year old, was resting in the back room.

In seconds, the roof flew off, taking the crib with it, with the children’s father, Aramis Youngblood, clinging to it. Sydney threw herself over Princeton just as the walls collapsed.

The wind lifted them and slammed them into the ground twice, but the child never left her arms.

When it was all over, Sydney and Aramis could hear each other, but couldn’t see each other. Trapped among the debris, she managed to free herself and Princeton. Injured, he went out into the rain to look for Lord.

Sydney has told it this way: she was “pretty sure” her son had died.

Until, after about 10 endless minutes, Aramis found him. Lord was alive, about 7 meters away, in a hollow at the base of a fallen tree.

The house and all their belongings were lost, but all four survived, with just scratches, bruises, and a dislocated collarbone.
