Ankole cattle already have a reputation of their own: their horns can measure up to 2,5 meters from tip to tip, the largest and widest of any cattle breed on the planet. In Uganda they are called “the cattle of kings” and for centuries those horns were their only defense against hyenas and leopards.
But one specimen found in the western part of the country challenged even that logic: in addition to its two giant horns, it grew a third. Experts call it a supernumerary horn, a developmental anomaly unrelated to the breed’s normal genetics and one that occurs in very few documented cases worldwide.

The discovery was verified by NTV Uganda together with the Ankole Cattle Breeders Society, after an initial video went viral with more than 3,8 million views. It was followed by a second, clearer recording, which finally confirmed what many believed impossible: a breed already known for its extreme horns, taken one step further by nature.
