Pulya was 12 years old, and her legs no longer worked as they once had. 🐾

When the war reached Kyiv, Alisa and Dmytro did not hesitate: if they had to flee, their dog was fleeing with them. The problem was that pets were not allowed in the subway shelter, and the road to the Polish border was too long for an elderly German shepherd. So they carried her. They took turns, kilometer after kilometer, more than ten in total, while their two daughters walked alongside them amid the chaos of war.

“She was the first member of our family”, Alisa later said, recalling the day they adopted her. That phrase explains why they never considered leaving her behind, even though carrying her cost them strength they barely had left. 🇺🇦
